store window visions – September 23

9.23.2014

the toy store window

held wonders

and I pressed my

nose against the

jewelry store pane

to watch skaters

swirl mechanically

across glass ices

a child’s wonder is

beautiful and simple,

joy lifting at the corners

involuntarily, sparkle

rising ex nihilo

winter’s breath came

clearer then, not frozen

but crisp, like a gift

from the dark heaven.
