so much for resistance – January 27

1.27.17

they brought out

the ice cream

and all bets were

off

good intentions

right out the

window.

I can resist anything

but

temptation.

so much for

resistance.

an inch of snow – January 25

1.25.2017

an inch of snow

covers a lot

of damage

sad grey melting

world suddenly

crisp in the

morning air

the walk to the

mailbox now

crunching

satisfyingly.

snow, snow

beautiful

snow

as long as it’s

only

an inch.

when he was born – January 22

1.22.2017

when he was born

his mother

cuddled him close

and rubbed her nose

deep into his

hair

to inhale

all that he was,

all that he is,

all that he would

become.

somewhere deep

we know each

other’s scent, taste,

smell, cry

it never leaves

and love

rubs its nose

deep over us

all our lives

waiting for

us to return.

grey clouds – January 20

1.20.2017

grey clouds mist

over the windshield

of my mind

no wipers need apply

no why or how or

what will dispel

whatever clings

to this soul

just to be lived

through

until the fog

lifts.

old friends – January 18

1.18.2017

old friends shuffle

around the track

one mincing steps

close to the rail

lest a stumble

the other at his

side chatting and

protecting from those

who swoop by

in their jogs.

no explanations needed.

just a friend

being a friend.

Stopping for a whiz on a snowy evening – January 15

1.15.2017 Stopping for a whiz on a snowy evening
Whose woods are these I think
I know,
the owner’s not looking
so I can go
My masters brought a plastic
bag
I drop my tail and give
a wag
I let my haunches spread an
squat
and through the air
I send a plop.
The only sound’s the
soften drop of
bottom’s feed
into the spot
the woods are
lovely dark and deep
but I have home to
go and sleep
to spread my paws
upon the rug
and dream of days
and nights
so snug.
===========
with many apologies to Robert Frost

alzheimer’s – January 9

1.9.2017

a bright face

wrestling with

the wrath

of mind cells

going of life

loves passing

of bodily distancing

and medical

monitoring

and the loss of

knowing

if God still

loves him.

contenda – January 13

1.13.2017

he hits the bag

full on

tall white haired

brahmin

with the just

right speed

gloves

as if he

could’ve

been a

contenda

if anyone had

noticed.

twelfth night – January 8

12.8.2017

the tree is beautiful

glittering in the

night like dreams

of what I once

wished for

lights reflecting

in the window

behind making

fairy tales true

and the loves

of my life

ever present

a christmas that I

longed for as a

child before I even

knew that it could be

so

with the family gathered

and then gone

and the tree still

present

lighting the guideway

to my star.

applestore – January 7

1.7.2017

computer haven

analogic

wasteland

digital destiny

cube cleaned

free

life set loose

for cool

sterility.
