leaving the light on – June 3

6.3

Crickets chirp in sorrow

night falling like a plan

how do I know the morrow

will come to me again.

Each night a little passing

each sunset one still more

and yet I set to laughing

at life’s forgotten shore.

How will I face the final

is not a question now

I plan to leave the light on

as long as heav’n allows.
