apple pie blessings – November 27

11.27

I pick up an apple and the peeler,

start around, getting the sides, top,

and then use the round chopper

for slices suitable for the pan. Sugar

cinnamon, nutmeg, yum. Butter

pats before the top crust goes on

and  a milk and sugar wash. Into

the oven at 375. Don’t forget to foil

around the edges to avoid crust

burn.

The rituals of Thanksgiving. Simple

direct connections to real stuff that

slices, dices and spreads. Such a

blessing to be able to do these things

and have satisfaction come out

the other side. Sons and wives and

partners will gather here tomorrow.

And we’ll sit at table, raise a glass,

break bread, give thanks, and mean it.

What could be better.
