olympic village – February 13

2.13

young men and women giving

their all, their bodies and hearts

to win something for themselves

and their tribes.

young hiawatha ran the gauntlets

of his day, canoe, arrow, trial by

fire, for the sake of his love and

the indian maid.

nobility writ upon young brows

who will grow older knowing that

once they stood upon the pinnacles

and did not flinch.

even in failure there was no fault

giving all was all that could be asked

and the knowledge that once there

was everything on the line.
