when the curtain comes down – July 28

7.28.2014

when the curtain comes down

and it was all make believe

the screws come out of the

wood and windows, doors,

walls, castles falling back

into flats

hardware stripped out

for storage away

for perhaps some use

another day

and the stage goes back

to empty. flat black. making

clear that empty was ever

the only real.

and yet once

upon a time

there was

magic

for real.
