red kettle blessing – December 12

12.12.2015

red kettle ringing

waving the bell

smiling.

humanity steps

by, so many

saying thank

you for doing

this or scrambling

in wallets and

purses for coins

and bills.

old man in aging

cadillac shuffles

up on his walker

here, he says,

there won’t be

much left after

the shopping

later he waves

I’ve a penny left!

well done I reply

young men, little

girls left off by

the school bus,

mothers with

children, come

by with lessons

learned and

learning, smiling

to drop something

in.

blessed by the opportunity

to do something

good.
