January thaw – January 30

1.30.2017

there’s something about

a January thaw

that does a body

good.

we walk to the waterfall

where the flows pulsing

behind a yellowing

wall of ice

feed into the widening maw

of deep copper

below

and piles of fall-gathered

brush emerge

from beneath the

snow.

the air opens

our eyes our

hearts and our

hope.

winter will pass.
