or is it whistle

electric

screening

white, green

noise

with its own

colors

and the dog

walks in

only to lie down

before the

whistling

touches him

the beep beep

coffee’s ready

signal that

rice bag is done.

they shot that

poor boy

 

he beat up his

girl

 

he was handcuffed

he had a gun

he was innocent

he was bad

the cops kill us all

the cops had no choice

 

how dark it is to

face into chaos

night after day

after call never

knowing.

strange angled

cuttings revealing

until combined.

 

I try to place

all the nice

flat straight-line

pieces first

 

before the large

splotch centers

and the final

fills.

 

little reductions

of my life

to the straight

edges that surround

but don’t fill in

old cat – March 15

old cat steps up

gingerly, her body

no longer sprung

steel.

 

lying down with

her head askew

she watches

the momma

 

waiting, waiting

a slight twitch

head lift, wonder,

query

 

will the one who

feeds and strokes

and whispers

return.

 

old cat still a

sphinx, steps

down to seek

out.
