east facing leaves
yellow
first flocks of
geese honking
south
signs of the
change.

some faces light up
as the parade moves
by
others stay glum
as never
moved,
the parade
bringing out
the child
in us
alive or
defeated.

9.7.2015
I walked too far
yesterday, I’ll walk
too far again today.
all my muscles
ache
but I find myself
laughing
amused at how this
is just what bodies
do and if you don’t
laugh you cry
so chuckle
at the
least.

9.3.2015
the leap into deeps
grasps with its
cold
breaking surface
we share laughter
and camaraderie
older stiffer bodies
sharing with those
in their starts.
we generations go
separate ways
in our togetherness.

8.31.2015
electronic blips zip
and the money goes
bye bye
across aeons of
ions to somewhere
else
while our minds are
turned elsewhere
vulnerably

8.23.2015
the lion appears
large sleepy
eyes gazing
I look back affecting
calm, lean to breathe
into its face
as it opens its
mouth to chew
on my hand
like a dog not
yet biting down
but en route.
the naked power
terrifies me yet
I lead others
out away
who then do not under
stand why I yell at
them.
life and death I swear
but they hear only
that I have raised
my voice.

8.26.2015
mowing the lawn
adding seed to the
bird feeder
oiling a hinge
everyday everyday
walks through
normality
the stuff of life
straight forward
the gist of giving
and receiving
just because.
