I rendezvous with
the love of my life
ever new
as if we’ve met again
for the first time
deja vu
marveling at the
grace in my life
that is you
rendezvous.

the pond flow has
risen to creek level
above the culvert
divide
and mama turtle’s flipper
legs pull her on through
the flow
so that her eggs can make
their way across the road
and down the falls
to lakeshore
where new life will
rise as if pre-ordained
as it t’was in the
beginning, is now
and every shall be…

lifetimes blessed together
in the start of something
we thought was the
end
but only really a beginning
of ups and downs,
hands and hearts
joys, hurts, pains
and victories
that make it all
worthwhile.

Joe was a surprise. My tall
handsome son explained to
me that this was his love. And
I had to step back, say no no,
are you sure, then OK.
We sit around their dinner table
now, family, chatting about our
days and ways, about getting
plastic up on the windows for
winter’s approach,
about deviled eggs on the table,
pasta and brownies, why this
wine is a good deal, and the
ins and outs of having folks pay
attention to our stuff at work.
Commuters, houses, families
and laughter, thoughtfulness,
care for other’s feelings, and
Lucky the dog who was lucky
enough to find these two.
Eyes to eyes, hand to mouth,
finding our ways in the world
all of us. Up, down, sideways,
surprising and not. Just
family.

how do they tell us
one from another
or do the planted

at our passing

slurring words, slumming
