4.14.2015
thin like a rapier
sharp as steel
hawk nosed
and young
we talk across
borders of
business and
youth
wandering voices
striking fire
and spark yet
opaque
how do generations
hear one another
when texts have
changed their meaning.

4.13.2015
working in the yard
people stop to talk
comparing notes
first softened day
dogs walk and
neighbors gawk
with no compunction
or competition
no mighty roses
or patterns to get
in the way
of enjoying april
and each other.

4.12.2015
raking out the winter
leavings
making words and
works out of
compost
where earthworms
transform debris
into destiny.
————————-
4.10.2015
dirt digging upending
old boundaries
spade hunching
wending spending
deep
to turn over
dis-lodge undo
what was before
for the sake of
new.
————–
4.9.2015
blank page filled
with unspoken
words
not yet condemned
condensed into
jottings
open. possible.
intuiting. maybes.
until
the page is un
blanked into
a specific
good, bad,
or other.
then it’s gone.

4.8.2015
the streams are running
slower but clearer
this year
no rushing rains
pouring pressures
keep the sludge
from rising to mar
the surfaces
transparency
like years unwinding
above below
reveal
the true heart veins
that throb
full
waters which have
carried and fed
clear
revealing years.
—————-
4.7.2015
no poem tonight
not feeling right
that’s all there is
so nothing
bad night.
—————-
4.6.2015
young players on
the stage
newer voices
at play
in the story we
all enter.
————–
4.6.2015
breathing slow and
measured I lift the
shovel
now of an age to
take time to measure
and feel
my body, use my
body, care for
my body
thankful for
the gift
of it.
Hallelu-jah
Hallelu-jah
Hallelu-jah
Enough said.
